GHETTO GENIUS MOTORSPORTS HOSTS EAT, BUILD, AND RACE COMPETITION SERIES TO REPLACE VIOLENCE WITH INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY, AND ON-TRACK MENTORING

CHAMPAIGN, IL –Ghetto Genius Motorsports sponsored by STEAM Genius will launch a multi-day Eat, Build, and Race Competition Series on Saturday, November 5 at the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club from 8 A-12 P for students starting in grade four. The purpose of this event is to encourage families to create an ecosystem of STEAM and STEM learners. Community-centered, teams of two will design, meet, build and drive remote control (RC) cars and strengthen age-appropriate soft and hard skills training at the Club. This engaging and dynamic STEM experience will have free food, no admission fee, and online registration. 

STEM activities like this keep the youth occupied, innovative, and on track mentally with the Street College philosophy of designing and building their own learning communities.

HIP HOP XPRESS VISITS OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING 

The Hip Hop Xpress Double Dutch Boom Bus and STREET COLLEGE team set off from Urbana, IL on April 7th, 2022 to visit the Ohio State University College of Engineering to build new connections and share the cultural innovation being curated in Central Illinois. While there, the Express connected with the OSU STEAM Factory to perform and showcase at Franklinton Fridays, a Columbus neighborhood-wide celebration of art, performance, and community. Before heading back home on Saturday, April 9th, the team visited Mifflin Middle School to further showcase Ghetto Genius Motorsports and STREET COLLEGE programming with RC Cars + Drones and Djing 101.

Dr. Patterson, 2020-21 Fiddler Innovation Faculty Fellow, was recently interviewed by The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
